PERSONALIZED NEXT STEPS
What happened?
Choose what you shared or did. You'll get immediate practical steps. Your choice stays in your browser; nothing is collected or submitted as a fraud report.
Situations covered
- Sent money or paid a scammer: Contact the payment provider immediately and ask about stopping, recalling, or disputing the transaction.
- Shared a password or security code: Use a trusted device to secure the account now; contact the provider if access has been lost.
- Shared Social Security or identity details: Visit IdentityTheft.gov for a personalized recovery plan and consider freezing credit with all three bureaus.
- Installed software or granted remote access: Disconnect the affected device from the internet and stop remote access.
- Clicked a link or opened an attachment: Do not enter more information or download anything else. If you entered credentials, secure the account immediately.
If you are in immediate physical danger, contact emergency services. Report internet-enabled fraud at IC3.gov and scams at ReportFraud.ftc.gov. Never pay someone who promises to recover stolen money for an upfront fee.
