Privacy Notice

Information submitted

The message checker accepts text and an optional screenshot that you choose to submit. Do not submit names, addresses, account numbers, passwords, verification codes, or other sensitive information. If AI analysis is enabled, submitted text (after best-effort masking of some personal details) and any uploaded screenshot are transmitted to our AI provider (OpenAI or Anthropic, depending on which we have turned on) to generate an assessment. Screenshots are not automatically redacted. Otherwise text is screened by our server using predefined patterns. Website hostnames may be sent to DNS resolvers, and full submitted URLs may be sent to Google Web Risk when configured.

Emailing your results

If you ask us to email checker results, we use your email address only to send that one email through our email provider, SendGrid. The email contains the results, not the message you submitted. We do not add your address to any mailing list.

Contact and Share a Scam forms

Messages sent through the Contact form and scams shared through the Share a Scam form are delivered by email to AblePro through SendGrid and kept in our email system so we can read and respond to them. Shared scam examples may be used, with personal information removed, to create scam warnings and educational content. Your email address is optional on the Share a Scam form and is used only to follow up about your submission. Do not include passwords, account numbers, verification codes or other sensitive details.

Spam protection

Our forms and checker use Google reCAPTCHA to tell people from automated abuse. reCAPTCHA collects hardware and software information, such as device and application data, and sends it to Google for analysis. The Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.

Storage and security

This site does not save checker submissions to a database. Hosting providers and infrastructure may process routine operational logs, including IP addresses. Data transmission uses HTTPS when properly configured on the production server. No internet service can promise absolute security.

Third parties

Links to external reporting organizations lead to independent websites governed by their own policies. We do not sell submitted messages.
